I recently heard the story of told by a parishioner who saw a woman offer a can of beer at the offretory. As the ushers passed by this woman, who may have been homeless, she pulled from her bag an unopened can of beer and placed it in the offretory basket. Laughingly, we might observe that "this woman has given from her need."
As Advent quickly approaches, let us offer the best to God... our very lives.
